ABORIGINAL CADET PROGRAM

Are you interested in a career in Police Services? The Aboriginal Cadet Program may be perfect for you!

The Aboriginal Cadet Program which is operated by the Vancouver Police Department and funded by Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society is seeking new recruits for the 2017 program. Since 2004 the program has given those of Aboriginal descent the chance to experience what a career in police services can offer.

Open to those 19-29 years of age, the program runs during the summer from June to end of August. Implemented to promote employment and career development, those selected will spend time working with the Vancouver Police Department fleet services as well as “ride along” experience.

Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:

  • 19 to 29 years of age
  • Aboriginal ancestry
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • valid Class 5 drivers license with no restrictions and a good driving record
  • no criminal convictions, no adult criminal charges pending
