What once would connect hundreds of passengers daily from Vancouver to Lillooet via Canadian Pacific Railway, today the Kaoham Shuttle is the only passenger train operating from the Lillooet station. The quaint, 2 car train which carries a maximum of 30 passengers, has brought rail enthusiasts from across the world to experience Canada’s greatest hidden rail trip.

Kaoham Shuttle Experience

To say that the Kaoham Shuttle experience is one that you couldn’t experience anywhere else in the world is no exaggeration. The one hour train ride runs along the base of the mountainside overlooking a calm lake and rapids in the same trip. Running through lush forests, the beauty and nature along the way offer a surreal, almost non-existent experience in today’s fast-paced world. Along the way, the driver is known to slow the train to point out eagles, mountain goat, deer and even black bears.  Portage. The finale before arrival is the 1.2 km hollowed tunnel dug into the base of the mountain.

Travel Information

The Kaoham Shuttle connects passengers between Lillooet and Seton Portage, 7 days a week. Most of the passengers are travelling between the two towns for work and family. Priority is given to the regular travellers for this reason, so calling ahead to book your seat is recommended. The return trip is very affordable at just $10.
